The Library of Ibn Rushd

Dar al-Rushd

A library worth breaking into.

A boot2root machine themed on the library of Ibn Rushd. Built so a complete beginner can get their first foothold, with a root that makes stronger players work for it.

Ran from 24 to 26 September 2026, one player per machine, each with a coach. 29 players took part, scored out of 135: flags for 90, activity and volunteering for 15, and a written report and presentation for 30.

The library

Ibn Rushd, known in Europe as Averroes, spent his life reading Aristotle closely enough to argue with the people who had misread him for centuries. The machine is his library: a public reading room, a staging site nobody remembered to take down, and a back office that trusts the wrong people.
